Man and van Kent

What people book a man and van for

Most of our man and van work is one of a handful of jobs. Someone moving out of a one-bed flat in Dartford or Sidcup. A new sofa that will not fit in the car. A part load going into storage while a sale completes. Furniture going from a parent’s house to a first flat. Small jobs, but they still need a proper van, someone who knows how to load it, and insurance if something goes wrong.

The difference with us is that you get the same crew, the same van and the same insurance that do our full house removals, scaled down to the size of the job. No gig-app driver who has never strapped a wardrobe to a van wall, and no hourly meter running while you wait for the lift.

Flat and studio moves

One-bed and studio flats, including upper floors with no lift. Tell us the floor and the access at both ends and we will price the stairs in up front rather than adding them on afterwards.

Single items and furniture

Sofas, wardrobes, beds, white goods and anything else that will not go in a car. Wrapped, strapped and carried in, not left on the doorstep.

Part loads and storage runs

Taking part of a house into storage while a chain sorts itself out, or bringing it back out again. Useful when completion dates do not line up.

Student and first-flat moves

Moving into halls, out of a house share, or into a first flat. Boxes, a bed, a desk and a few bags, done in one trip with someone else doing the lifting.

Choosing the right service

Man and van, or a full house removal?

The honest answer depends on volume, not on how many bedrooms the listing says. Here is how we would decide.

A man and van suits

  • Studio and one-bed flats
  • Single items or a handful of large pieces
  • Part loads and runs to or from storage
  • Short-notice jobs that need doing this week
  • Moves where you have already packed everything yourself

A full removal suits

  • Two-bed homes and up, or a flat with a lot of furniture
  • Moves where you want packing done for you
  • Completion day moves that have to be done in one go
  • Heavy or delicate items that need extra hands
  • See our house removals service

We come back with a single price for the job and a time slot. No hourly rate, no fuel surcharge, no ULEZ charge.

3

We load, drive and unload

We turn up when we said, do the lifting, secure everything in the van and put it where you want it at the other end.

Where we go

Man and van across Kent and South East London

We run man and van jobs from Swanley across the whole of our removals area. If your town has its own page, that page covers the local detail: access, parking and the streets we know.

BR8

Swanley & Hextable

Our home patch. Swanley town, Swanley Village, Hextable, Crockenhill and the villages along the Darent valley are minutes from the yard, so short-notice jobs here are the easiest for us to fit in.

DA1 · DA2

Dartford & Crayford

A short run up the A20 and M25. Flats around Dartford town centre, new-build estates at Ebbsfleet and Stone, and the 1930s streets of Crayford are all regular work.

DA5 · DA6 · DA14

Bexley, Bexleyheath & Sidcup

The London Borough of Bexley, inside the ULEZ zone. Our vehicles are compliant, so there is no daily charge added to a job here.

BR1 · BR5 · BR6 · BR7

Bromley, Orpington & Chislehurst

Petts Wood, Orpington, Chislehurst and Bromley, from flats near the stations to larger family houses with long drives.

SE9 · SE10

Eltham & Greenwich

South East London streets where parking is the real constraint. We plan where the van stands before the day, not on it.

TN · DA11

Sevenoaks, Gravesend & Tunbridge Wells

Further out into Kent, for jobs that are worth a dedicated trip. Tell us both postcodes and we will price it properly.

Common questions

Man and van questions people actually ask

How much does a man and van cost?
It depends on what you are moving, the access at both ends and the distance. A sofa going three miles is a very different job from a one-bed flat going across Kent. Rather than quote an hourly rate that grows with traffic and stairs, we give you a fixed price up front. Send us a list or a few photos and we will come back with an exact figure. The price we agree is the price you pay.
Do you do the lifting, or do I need to help?
We do the lifting. Loading, carrying, securing in the van and unloading at the other end are all part of the job. If the move involves something heavy or awkward, like a large American fridge freezer or a wardrobe going down a narrow staircase, tell us when you book so we send the right number of hands.
Can you take apart and rebuild furniture?
Yes, for standard items such as bed frames, wardrobes and flat-pack furniture. Mention it when you book so we can allow the time and bring the tools, rather than finding out on the day that a bed will not fit through a door in one piece.
Can you do a same-day or next-day man and van?
Often, yes. Smaller jobs are much easier to fit in at short notice than full house moves, and we keep some capacity for them. Call rather than email if your date is tight and we will tell you straight away whether we can do it.
Is my stuff insured on a man and van job?
Yes. A man and van job carries the same goods in transit and public liability cover as a full house removal. Smaller job, same insurance.
Do you charge extra for ULEZ on London jobs?
No. Our vehicles are ULEZ-compliant, so jobs in Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich and the rest of the London side of our area carry no daily charge from us.
Is a man and van the right choice for my move?
It usually is for single items, studio and one-bed flats, part loads and runs to and from storage. For a full family house it is usually the wrong choice, because it means several trips and a longer day. Tell us what you have and we will say honestly which one fits, even if it is the cheaper option.
